The bible tells us that Jesus will come again. Jesus Himself promised this,
In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also John 14:2-3.

When Jesus ascended into heaven before the eyes of His disciple's two men {angels} stood near them. They spoke saying "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven" Acts 1:11. Just as His ascent was seen by His disciples, so His return will be seen by those who love Him.

1. What is the purpose for the Lord Jesus Christ's return? He is coming to take away His church, His bride. We must not be stained or spotted with the world {James 1:27} Friends of the world 1 John 2:15 A bride without spot or blemish

Parable 10 Virgins

Matt 25 We need to understand the Jewish roots of our faith. And what happened in the ancient Jewish wedding ceremony. The hopeful bridegroom went to the home of his potential bride carrying three things, his best financial offering, a betrothal contract, and a skin of wine. If the father was impressed and accepted the bridegroom's offering he called the daughter for her response. If things were acceptable to her, the bride to be drank the wine and immediately a trumpet sounded to announce their betrothal. A trumpet always signifies important messages. During the following year of betrothal the couple could not see each other alone. The bridegroom went to his father's house to prepare a place, a CHUPPAH or honeymoon bed. No wedding date could be given - Why because he could not go and get his bride until the father approved of his son's preparation. The bride therefore had to be in a state of constant readiness lest the bridegroom arrived unexpected and she was caught by surprise. When the groom's father decided everything was in place and released his son to go and fetch his bride a second trumpet was blown. This trumpet, to announce the grooms coming was called the last trump. Jewish weddings were generally celebrated at night, starting early in the evening . Matthew 25 Parable of the 10 virgins. In the case of the 10 virgins there was some extra delay and the bridegroom who had gathered a procession of his friends arrived at midnight. Starting from the home of the bridegroom, his friends began a joyous cry and all along the route people would take up the joyous cry until it would get near enough to the home of the bride and would wake up the sleeping ones. This was the duty of the ones chosen by the bride to welcome the bridegroom. When they heard the cry they all arose to trim their lamps and get them in order. The bride had to be ready in case her bridegroom came. They all had lamps burning when they went to sleep but the lamps of the foolish virgins needed more oil. The foolish needed more oil and asked for oil from the wise virgins but were sent to buy some quickly. The bridegroom got married to a certain young lady. Doors were always locked to uninvited guests for fear of thieves who would rob the guests or carry off the bride for a ransom. Thus announced the bridegroom took the marriage contract to present to the father of his intended bride. He claimed her as his bride and took her from her father's house to his father's house. His father would be waiting to receive the couple and then the groom's father would take the hand of the bride and place it in the hand of his son. At that moment she became his wife. This was called the presentation. After the presentation, the bridegroom would bring his bride to the place he had gone to prepare.

2 Cor. 11:2 Paul wrote to the church, "For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. What a powerful picture of what God has prepared for us. We are the betrothed bride of Christ purchased with His precious blood. The Lord Jesus Christ, our Bridegroom, returned to His Father's house to prepare everything for our arrival. Rev 21 We are going home, to a city where there will be no death, no parting, no sorrow, no sickness or pain. There will be no more night because the Lamb of God is the Light. The rapture will take place soon. We shall all be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet {1 Cor. 15:51-52} Behold I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me to render to every man according to what he has done [Rev 22:12] Be thou faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of life[Rev 2:10]

THE JUDGEMENT SEAT OF CHRIST AND THE BRIDEGROOM'S WEDDING RECEPTION -WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE BRIDEGROOM TAKES HIS BRIDE HOME.

Ephesians 5:27 He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish" We will stand before God for a final review of our faithfulness. We will either receive crowns or reproof and reprimand. The qualities under examination will be our character and faithfulness

1. What is the purpose for the Lord Jesus Christ's return First of all, He is coming to take away His Bride. Just as the bridegroom came with his friends to the home of the bride who was waiting with her maiden friends. In like manner, Jesus is coming to our home, the earth, to call us away. We shall accompany Him, our blessed Bridegroom, to His Father's house which is a celestial home. This is a great and wonderful secret which is called the RAPTURE. Do not confuse the Rapture with the Second Coming of Christ - they are two separate events.

2. When will this take place Jesus Himself said: "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Matt 24:36 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. . We are told to live and be ready at any time for this event to take place. We see iniquity ripening on every hand. Crime, lawlessness, immorality, dishonesty and murder are filling the earth with violence. We read of earthquakes, famines, great disaster. This is all escalating.

3. What is the preparation for that hour? Make sure that you have invited Christ into your heart. When you receive Him, you are born of God and you become God's child. Jesus said to Nicodemus, "except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God" John 3.3 We are told to live under the anointing of God's Spirit. The parable of the ten virgins. Those whose vessels were filled with oil went into the wedding feast Matt 25:1-13 James 5: 7:8 Now as for you who are waiting for the Lord's return, be patient, like a farmer who waits until the autumn for his precious harvest to ripen. Yes be patient. And take courage for the coming of the Lord is near

4. Faithfulness We are also encouraged to be faithful in our service for God. Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you that he shall make him ruler over all his goods Matt 24:46:47

5. We are to live in holiness Try to stay out of all quarrels and seek to live a clean and holy life, for one who is not holy will not see the Lord. Heb 12:14 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure 1 John 3:3. In other words, we should pattern our behaviour after the example Jesus established.

6. What will take place when Jesus comes? His coming is described vividly "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1 Thess 4: 16-17 Matt. 24 :40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill, the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doeth come Our bodies will be changed, and the corruptible will have an incorruptible glorious body like Christ. Jesus could still eat food after His resurrection but because His body had been transformed He could enter a room even though the doors were closed. The bible describes our meeting with Jesus .We shall be like him for we shall see him as he is 1 John 3:2. We need to seize every opportunity to win souls for Christ. He who wins souls is wise. If we are not careful we can get so caught up with the spirit of the world

THE JUDGEMENT SEAT OF CHRIST

The saints will meet Christ in the air. We will be reunited with our loved ones. We will be brought into our Father's house which is heaven. Paul said For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he had done, whether it be good or bad" Heb 4:13 We must all appear and will stand before Christ in the great judgement hall. What a time of heart-searching there will be as we stand before His penetrating eyes.

Many will fail
Many Christian workers fail because they lose this consciousness, this vision and this incentive of labouring for Christ. Personal motives creep in and personal glory. Some get caught in the lust of the flesh and their ministry ends in shame.

On that day many that are first shall be last
Every man's work shall be revealed. The works of many who were applauded in this life will burn as chaff before God. The widow who has given the little but all she possessed will have first place. The unknown faithful missionary or Christian worker, who never attained fame in this life, will be honoured by The Lord Jesus Christ. As we stand before Him, our real motives behind all we have done makes our works appear as gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay or straw. 1 Cor 3:12,13 1 Corinthans 3:11 - 15 Paul wrote For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear, for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work, which he has built on it, endures he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

1 Cor 3:12,13 GOLD, SILVER AND PRECIOUS STONES

Gold: Faith that was tried as by fire - the man or woman who said,"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him. Job 13:15 These trials are only to test your faith. It is being tested as fire tests gold and purifies

Silver: Divine love and compassion is that love which causes us to be willing to lay down our life for the brethren. An unselfish love, seeks not its own desires no glory, but loves others for Christ's sake.

Precious stones: These are souls won for Christ: little children, older people, people saved from the fire. How wonderful to hear the words of Jesus, Well done, thou good and faithful servant enter thou into the joy of thy Lord Matt 25:21

Wood, hay and stubble: Some seek earthly gain. Behind their work for God there is a selfish motive. "What do I get out of it" On the day of Judgement all their works, all the applause of men, will burn to ashes. What will be your reward?

There are rewards laid up for Christians -crowns

1 COR 9-25 5 different crowns,

1 Crown of Rejoicing - 1 Thes.2:19 [soul winners crown] He who wins souls is wise.

2.Crown of Righteousness 2 Tim 4 7-8 reward for the faithful who long for the Lord's Second coming

3 Crown of Life - James 1-12. Reward for Trial, trouble-martyrdom, Saints who have been faithful even unto death

4 Crown of Glory - 1 Peter 5 1-4 Reward for faithful pasturing to the shepherds who have patiently cared for the flock of God. Have fed and led them into green pastures by teaching and building them up with the living Word.

5. Crown Incorruptible - 1 Cor 9 24-27 - reward for those who are temperate in all things - i.e. who do not yield to the flesh and have crucified the desires of the flesh.

At the Judgement Seat of Christ the very thoughts of our hearts will be revealed; nothing will be hidden from His eyes. We will all give an account of every idle word on the day of judgement. Matthew 12:36

FAITHFULNESS

Even if it is just greeting people at the door, the Lord wants you to be faithful. He wants you to overcome the temptations of life and walk in a way that is pleasing to Him. If we do that we will receive His crowns.

Phil 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus

2 Tim: 4:7:8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Some will receive great and wonderful rewards while others will receive nothing at all. I want to challenge you today to live your life in such a way that you will receive those rewards that God has for you. Rise up in faith and be everything that God has called you to be. Everything that we do must be for the gospel's sake and not for earthly gain. We cannot hold onto anything here in this life and all we can take with us to heaven is people. One is no fool to give up the temporal for that which is eternal. Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed then unto us by His Spirit 1 Cor. 2:9,10

Behold I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me to render to every man according to what he has done {Rev 22:12] Be thou faithful unto death [Rev 2:10] Tis one life it will soon be past - only what is in Christ will last.
